Pray Together While We Are Apart

Pray Together While We Are Apart

St. Brendan Parish

March 2020

At this most unprecedented time in our world, it is so easy to feel disconnected from each other.  As we deal with this pandemic that circles the globe, we find ourselves unable to worship and pray together in the ways we are accustomed.  We now have the opportunity to Pray Together While We Are Apart.

All members of St. Brendan Parish (and beyond) are invited to join together in prayer, each from their own home, daily at 3pm.  Why 3pm? As we continue to journey through the season of Lent and look to the great celebration of Easter, we remember how Jesus died for us on the cross at that time on Good Friday.  If you are not able to pray at 3pm, join the parish in prayer at a time that is conducive to your situation.

Internet resources are listed to assist you with the prayer for the day.  At the conclusion of the daily prayer, each family member should offer personal prayer and intentions out loud.

The Our Lady of Lourdes Novena has become a popular prayer during times of illness.  A novena is a prayer that is prayed each day for NINE days.  Consider adding this to your daily prayers. See https://www.ewtn.com/catholicism/devotions/novena-to-our-lady-of-lourdes-297 for the daily Novena Prayer.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D2wxD3YvfeQ

O Mary, you shine continuously on our journey as a sign of salvation and hope.  We entrust ourselves to you, Health of the Sick.  At the foot of the Cross you participated in Jesus' pain, with steadfast faith.  You, Salvation of the Roman People, know what we need.  We are certain that you will provide, so that, as you did at Cana of Galilee, joy and feasting might return after this moment of trial.  Help us, Mother of Divine Love, to conform ourselves to the Father's will and to do what Jesus tells us:  He who took our sufferings upon Himself, and bore our sorrows to bring us, through the Cross, to the joy of the Resurrection.  Amen.

We seek refuge under your protection, O Holy Mother of God.  Do not despise our pleas -- we who are put to the test -- and deliver us from every danger, O glorious and blessed Virgin.

-Pope Francis, 11 March 2020
