Forming Consciences for Faithful Citizenship
A weekly series to make an informed decision

Week 1: Introduction
As Catholics and Americans, we're blessed to participate in our nation’s political and public life.

Week 2: Role of the Church
It's our responsibility to study Catholic teaching and tradition, participate in the Church, learn from trustworthy sources, and do our best to make wise judgments on candidates and public policy.

Week 3: Church and politics in Ohio
On behalf of the Catholic bishops of Ohio, the Catholic Conference of Ohio advocates for laws and legislation in Ohio that align with a Catholic vision of a moral and just society.

Week 4Dignity of Human Person
The US bishops provide a foundation to better evaluate policies, platforms, and candidates in light of the Gospel and the Church’s moral and social teaching.

Week 5Common Good
Pope Benedict XVI writes in Caritas in Veritate (Charity in Truth): “The more we strive to secure a common good corresponding to the real needs of our neighbors, the more effectively we love them.”

Week 6: Solidarity
We are one human family, whatever our national, racial, ethnic, economic, and ideological differences. Human beings are social in nature; we develop and flourish within a community.

Week 7: Subsidiarity
Subsidiarity promotes the flourishing of each person and realization of the common good. We pray for families and those in poverty and support their efforts to exercise their rights and responsibilities in society.
